When using EnDAT
®
with the MDD 100, the cable length must be taken into consideration
(voltage drop)!
Formula for calculating the cable length (max. 10 m):
(A * U) / (ρ * I * 2) = Lcable
Example of cable length calculation:
For AKM2xx - xxxxDBxx (ECN 1125 encoder with 4.75 V minimum supply and 14 A
maximum current):
Maximum voltage drop = 5 V – 4.75 V = 0.25 V
(0.18 mm² * 0.25 V) / (0.017 Ω * mm²/m * 0.14 A * 2) = 9.4 m
Table for EnDat
®
encoder cable lengths:
Derivation of the formula:
R = U / I Maximum resistance, calculated via the encoder power
R = ρ * Lwire / A wire resistance over the entire wire length
Applied:
R = ρ * Lwire / A
Solved for the maximum wire length calculation:
(A * U) / (ρ * I) = Lwire
