Using descaling agent
ATTENTION!
► Only use the descaling agent when the steam iron has cooled down com-
pletely. Otherwise, heating increases the aggressiveness of the acid of the
descaling agent. This may cause damage to parts of the appliance.
Note
► The steam iron is designed for use with tap water or distilled water (see
section Filling the water tank). However, it is necessary to descale the
steam chamber regularly with a descaling agent to remove limescale resi-
dues and thus maintain the maximum performance of the steam iron.
► The frequency of descaling depends on the hardness of the water and how
often the appliance is used. We recommend descaling at least once every
two months or as soon as you notice that the appliance is generating less
steam.
► We recommend using the descaling agent DURGOL Universal Fast
Decalcifier to descale the steam iron.
To descale the steam iron, proceed as follows:
1) Pull the mains plug out of the mains socket. Make sure that the steam iron
has completely cooled down.
2) Empty the water tank
e
of the steam iron completely into a sink via the
filler
opening
Easy-Fill 2
.
3) Mix 160 ml of water with 160 ml of
DURGOL Universal Fast Decalcifier
(ratio 1:1) and pour half of the mixture into the water tank
e
using the
measuring cup
t
. Pour the other half of the descaling mixture into a shallow,
sufficiently large container (e.g. a shallow bowl) for subsequent descaling of
the iron soleplate
q
.
4) Leave the descaling mixture to soak in for approx. 5 minutes.
5) Point the water jet
1
at a towel and
press the button for the
spray function
5
about 20 times
(see Fig. 6)
.
6) Hold the steam iron horizontally over a sink or a drip tray, then press and
hold the
self clean
w
button. Move the steam iron back and forth a little.
Swivel and tilt it slightly so that the contents of the water tank
e
emerge
from the
steam outlets
r
in the soleplate
q.
7) Release the
self clean
w
button as soon as noticeably less liquid comes out
of the
steam outlets
r.
Empty the remaining contents of the water tank
e
via
the
filler opening
Easy-Fill
2
completely into a sink.
8) Using the measuring cup
t
,
pour tap water or distilled water up to the
MAX
mark to fill the water tank
e
(see section
Filling the water tank).
Repeat steps 5 to 7 two times.
