Troubleshooting Information - Sevcon Electrical System Flash Codes
NOTE: A Steady Light on Sevcon Means System is Ready to Operate.
FLASH CODE TROUBLE PROBABLE CAUSE REMEDY
LED is off No functions
1. Batteries Disconnected.
2. Defective Sevcon.
1. Reconnect batteries.
2. Replace Sevcon.
2 Flash Fault
1. Lift or Drive Selected Before
Power up.
1. First Power Up and then Select
Function.
3 Flash Fault
1. Sevcon Shorted.
2. Drive Motor Shorted.
1. Replace Sevcon.
2. Replace Drive Motor.
4 Flash Fault
1. Contactor welded.
1. Replace Contactor.
5 Flash Fault
Procedure
Fault
1. Contactor not shifted.
2. Defective Sevcon.
1. Clean Contactor. Replace if
defective.
2. Replace Sevcon.
6 Flash Fault
No Drive
and Lift
1. Loose or broken wire #59 from
upper control box to Pin #14 on
Sevcon.
2. Open or defective Base Speed
Relay (59ACR).
1. Check continuity. Replace if
defective.
2. Check Relay. Replace if
defective.
7 Flash Fault
Low Battery
Voltage
1. Batteries have dropped below
13 Volts.
1. Recharge Batteries.
8 Flash Fault
1. Sevcon Overheating.
1. Let unit cool down.
10 Flash Fault
Thermal
Cutback
1. Loose or broken wire from Pin
#2 on Sevcon to Pin #4 on
Tachometer Board.
2. Loose or broken wire from Pin
#12 on Sevcon to Pin #2 on
Tachometer Board.
3. Loose or broken wire #T1 or
#T2 from Tachometer Generator
to Main Circuit Board.
1. Check continuity. Replace if
defective.
2. Check continuity. Replace if
defective.
3. Check continuity. Replace if
defective.
11 Flash Fault
Tachometer
Fault
1. Tachometer Generator
defective.
2. Tachometer Generator Wires
Reversed.
3. Defective Tachometer Board.
1. Check output 20.8 Volts per
1000 RPM. Replace if defective.
2. Switch wires at Generator.
3. Check Tachometer Board for
inputs and outputs. Replace if
defective.
12 Flash Fault
Tilt Condition
with Platform
Elevated.
1. Tilt Condition with Platform
Elevated has disabled Sevcon
for Lift and Drive.
1. Lower Platform and Reposition
to a firm Level Surface.
13 Flash Fault
Transmission
Gear Mesh
Failure
1. Incorrectly set Proximity Switch.
2. Defective Proximity Switch.
1. Refer to Proximity Switch

14 Flash Fault
Low or Open
Voltage to

1. Loose or broken wire to Pin #5
on Sevcon.
2. Loose or broken wire to Pin #6
on Sevcon.
1. Check for 24 Volts between Pin
#5 and wire #02.
2. Check for 48 Volts between Pin
#6 and wire #02.
