and non encapsulated package with venting grooves comprising only low outgassing materials it
is UHV compatible.

• For short term operations, a temperature range from -18

C to 140
◦
C is applicable but not
reccomended. However, long-term usage at high temeratures can reduce the product life-
time. Operation at low temperature and high humidity can lead to condensation on optical
surfaces and reduce the signal strength.
• If possible, use only the original packaging for storage.
• Baking cycles that are used for adhesive curing or UHV bakeout should be limited regarding
duration and cycle number to the convenient purpose.
• There is no specified limitation to the environmental polution degree. However, any con-
tamination of the optical surfaces of the readhead or the scale from fluids, particles, dust,
scratches or condensation can lead to distortion of the signal. See advises on maintenance
for further notice (Chapter 2).
