1-7-1. Board Description
MIX-54 Board
This main board of MCS-8M contains main components such as a video signal input/output circuit, a digital video
processing circuit, a digital audio processing circuit, a control CPU circuit, and a circuit for controlling switches, LEDs,
and LCD on the panel .
CN-3404 Board
This board contains analog video input/output connectors (for composite video input, reference input, and reference
output), a tally / GPI connector, and a serial communication (RS-232C) connector. Analog video signals are received
by the buffers (Q104 to Q107, Q112 to Q115) near each input connector and are sent to the MIX-54 board where the
analog video signals are A/D converted and D/A converted.
CN-3403 Board
This board contains audio input/output connectors, an A/D converter circuit, and a D/A converter circuit. Analog audio
signals from the audio input connector are converted to a serial digital signal by the A/D converter (IC102, IC302) and
the serial digital signal is sent to the MIX-54 board. This serial digital signal is processed in the MIX-54 board and is
then sent back to the CN-3403 board. After that, the serial digital signal is converted to an analog audio signal by the
D/A converter (IC500, IC501, IC600, IC700, IC800) and is then output from the audio output connector.
KY-671 Board
This board contains main components on the panel and relays signals to the SW-1521 board, VR-345 board, and the
menu display on the panel. A fader lever in the audio mixer, a tactile switch for buttons, button lighting LEDs, audio
level meter LEDs, a USB connector, and a connector for signal relay to other boards are mounted on this board.
VR-345 Board
This sensor board for video and fader lever for transition sends the angle information of the fader lever to the CPU
interface FPGA (IC5004) on the MIX-54 board through the KY-671 board.
SW-1521 Board
This board contains a rotary encoder and sends the rotary encoder settings to the CPU interface FPGA (IC5004) on the
MIX-54 board through the KY-671 board.
1-7-2. Video Signal Processing Circuit
The input connector has eight channels in total, including 4-channel SDI, 3-channel HDMI / analog composite switching
input, and a single-channel DVI-I input (digital/analog RGB switching).
The output connector has six channels in total, including 4-channel SDI output and 2-channel DVI-D output (one channel
of the two channels is for switching between digital and composite output).
Same parts are used for HDMI/analog composite input devices (IC3600, IC3700, IC3800) and the DVI-I input device
(IC3907). Therefore, the front FPGAs (IC5001, IC5002) are also of the same design (same parts).
Each of the FPGAs (IC5001, IC5002) contains a 4-channel frame synchronizer ( 2-channel SDI and 2-channel HDMI/
composite/DVI-I decoder) and uses the DDR3 memory (IC1800, IC1801 for IC5001 and IC1802, IC1803 for IC5001)
as a buffer.
Signals that are input to the FPGA are buffered in the DDR3 memory and are then read out at the internal processing
timing, achieving the frame synchronizer function. In addition, the input/freeze function is achieved by retaining the
data buffered in the DDR3 memory.
The rear FPGA (IC5003) has functions as a signal switching matrix, multiviewer (MV), mixer (MIX), and frame
memory. It also connects signals to the image processor (IC6).
The frame memory and multiviewer functions are achieved with the same DDR3 memory (IC2104). With the CPU
interface, the frame memory can read/write data from the CPU (IC10).
