Power modes
Car Thing has different modes depending on if it’s in use or
not. The mode also depends on if Car Thing is connected to
power or not.
● Playing - When Car Thing is currently playing music
and is connected to power.
● Standby - When the music has been paused for more
than 5 secs. The screen becomes slightly dimmed in
this mode. This mode also happens when Car Thing is
disconnected from the dock. All music is automatically
paused when the device is disconnected.
● Sleep - When Car Thing has been disconnected for
more than 5 secs. The screen will turn off in this mode.
When you connect Car Thing to power again it will go
right back to Playing mode and the song that was last
playing will resume. You can also put the device in
sleep mode by briefly tapping the power button.
● Power off - When Car Thing is completely turned off.
This happens when Car Thing is almost out of battery
(about 48 hours after going into sleep mode) or if you
turn off Car Thing by pressing the power button on the
back.
Restart
There are two different ways to restart the device.
● Go to Settings > Restart > Restart .
● Take the device off the dock and press the restart
button (the small round button on the back).
Tip : Use a thin object such as a paper clip to push the
button.
Turn on
Car Thing turns on automatically when you connect it to the
dock.
Turn off
Car Thing is turned off by pressing and holding the power
button on the back for about 3-5 seconds.
Note : You only need to turn the power off in situations where
the device has to be completely off, for example if you bring
the device with you during a flight. In most situations it’s fine
to let Car Thing go to sleep mode.
