Glossary
A number of specialist terms are used in this manual which are briefly explained
as follows:
AC Alternating Current
Arc A dangerous electrical current which flows
through the air and which occurs when the
positive and negative poles of a high voltage
come too close together.
Autonomous system A system that is not connected to the public
electricity grid and that stores energy, that is
not immediately required, in batteries.
CE A certification mark that shows that the prod-
uct is compliant with European requirements.
Connector Plug or socket
Cooling profile A profile on the rear side that is used to dis-
sipate heat and thereby serves to cool the
inverter.
DC Direct Current
Derating Reduction in the output emitted by the
inverter with the aim of lowering the tem-
perature inside the inverter or to stop the
temperature from rising any higher.
Efficiency In this case: the percentage of DC power that
is converted into AC power.
EMC Electromagnetic compatibility. The inverter
must not send out any interfering electro-
magnetic signals and must also not be sus-
ceptible to any.
European efficiency A measure of the average efficiency of an
inverter over the course of a year
Grid-connected system A PV system that is connected to the public
grid
IEC 60364-7-712 Paragraph relating to PV in the installation
standard for buildings
Input current The current that the solar modules produce
Input voltage The voltage of the solar modules
