Adjusting the blade brake clutch
cable
Maintenance interval:
As required
Adjustment of the cable is necessary
if the mowing blade is stationary
following engagement,
if engagement only takes place
following a delay,
if the speed of the engaged mowing
blade decreases during mowing.
Adjusting the cable
Loosen nut (1) and tension cable (2)
using nut (3). Then tighten nut (1)
again.
Check
Correct adjustment is checked by
measuring the spring length.
1 Measure the length of the relaxed
spring (4) using a slide calliper.
Engage the mowing blade – do not
start the engine. (Ö 10.2)
2 Measure the length of the stretched
spring (4).
Difference in length:
at least 3 mm
Adjust the cable again if necessary.
Adjusting the hydro self-
propulsion cable
RM 756 YC, RM 756 YS
Maintenance interval:
Prior to initial use or as required
Adjustment of the cable is necessary
before the machine is operated for the
first time
if the maximum speed is not achieved
if self-propulsion is permanently
engaged. This means that the lawn
mower automatically begins to move
when the recoil starter rope is pulled,
despite the self-propulsion lever not
being actuated.
Adjusting the cable
Pull driving speed lever (1) all
the way back.
Loosen nuts (2, 3) to release
the tension on cable (4).
Start the engine. (Ö 10.1)
Pull the self-propulsion lever to the
handlebar and hold. (Ö 10.5)
Tension cable (4) using nut (3) until
self-propulsion is activated. Then
release the self-propulsion lever, stop
the engine and tighten nut (2).
Check:
When the self-propulsion lever is not
actuated, the cable is tensioned slightly
and the machine can be pulled
backwards – the wheels are not
blocked.
Adjusting the gearshift cable
RM 756 GC, RM 756 GS
Maintenance interval:
As required
Adjustment of the cable is necessary
if the individual gears cannot be
engaged.
Adjusting the cable
Tighten cable (1) using two nuts (2, 3)
on the underside of the handlebar so
that all three gears can be correctly
engaged.
Adjusting the self-propulsion
cable
RM 756 GC, RM 756 GS
Maintenance interval:
As required
Adjustment of the cable is necessary
if self-propulsion is not activated when
the self-propulsion lever is operated.
if self-propulsion is permanently
engaged. This means that the lawn
mower automatically begins to move
when the recoil starter rope is pulled,
despite the self-propulsion lever not
being actuated.
Checking the cable tension:
1. Engage 3rd gear and pull the recoil
starter rope – the lawn mower is not
driven.
2. Pull the self-propulsion lever to the
handlebar and hold, pull the recoil
starter rope – the lawn mower is driven.
Adjusting the cable:
Tighten cable (1) using two nuts (2, 3)
on the underside of the handlebar so
that self-propulsion is activated at about
half the travel of the self-propulsion
lever.
If the mowing blade does not
correctly engage despite the cable
being correctly adjusted, the blade
brake clutch must be checked by a
specialist dealer. STIHL
recommends STIHL specialist
dealers.
