Overview

The STRONG Hybrid UHD Android Receiver SRT 2400 is a versatile entertainment device designed to provide extensive entertainment options and great flexibility. It combines the functionalities of an Android receiver with the ability to receive IP, cable, terrestrial, and satellite TV, including Ultra High Definition quality for satellite broadcasts.

Function Description

The SRT 2400 serves as a central hub for various media and television services. Its core function is to receive and decode digital television signals from multiple sources: DVB-T2 for terrestrial, DVB-C for cable, and DVB-S2 for satellite. This hybrid capability allows users to access a wide range of free-to-air TV and radio channels. Beyond traditional TV reception, the device integrates the Android platform, offering a smart TV experience. This includes access to Wi-Fi networks, web browsing, a picture gallery, video player, music library, and a store for downloading applications. It also supports streaming from other devices via S-link and can connect to external USB devices for expanded functionality like recording and media playback.

Usage Features

Android Platform: The Android platform is a significant feature, providing a user-friendly interface for various applications. Upon startup, the Home screen displays app icons, with permanent icons in the center and others accessible via the "All Apps" icon.

  • Network Connectivity: The receiver supports both Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet connections to the internet. Users can easily connect to Wi-Fi networks by selecting "Settings," then "Network," and choosing their preferred network. Passwords and IP settings can be configured here.
  • Web Browser: A built-in browser allows users to surf the internet. It can be accessed from the Home screen or the Application icon. The remote control offers mouse functionality for easier navigation.
  • Media Playback:
    • Picture Gallery: Users can view pictures stored on an SD card, USB storage device, or downloaded from the web. The gallery offers different viewing modes (Film strip, Grid view) and functions like rotate, edit, crop, and slideshow setup.
    • Video Player: Videos from SD cards, USB storage devices, or streamed sources can be played.
    • Music Library: The receiver can catalog and play music files from connected SD cards or USB devices, organizing them by artists, albums, songs, or playlists.
  • Application Store: The device provides access to an app store, requiring a Google Account for full functionality. Users can browse, search, download, and install various applications, expanding the receiver's capabilities.
  • S-link Streaming: This feature enables streaming of pictures, videos, and music from mobile phones or tablets to the TV screen, requiring a specific app on the mobile device.
  • System Settings: The "Setting" icon provides access to various system configurations, including Network, Bluetooth, Display, Audio, Language, Storage & Reset, and device information.

DTV Service: The DTV service offers access to digital free-to-air TV and radio programs.

  • Channel Management: The "Channel Manager" allows users to delete, move, hide, lock/unlock, and rename channels. It also supports setting up to 16 favorite lists. A default PIN (1234) protects these settings.
  • Timer Functionality: Users can set up wakeup and recording times. For recording, a USB device, SD card, or hard disk drive must be connected.
  • DTV Settings: This menu allows configuration of AV settings (Aspect Ratio, Zap Mode, Audio Track), Language (First/Second Audio, First/Second Subtitle), OSD Settings (Info Bar duration, Transparency), Parental Control (age rating, Channel Manager protection), Database management (backup/load channel lists), Recording settings (Timeshift, Recording Duration, Auto Timeshift), and System information.
  • Installation: The receiver supports Satellite, DVB-T/T2, and DVB-C installation.
    • Satellite Installation: Users can select satellites, modify settings (DiSEqC ports, LNB type, LNB voltage, SatCR, 22KHz), and perform various scan types (Auto search, Manual search, Blind scan, Network search) to find channels.
    • DVB-T/T2 Installation: This involves selecting the country, antenna power (for active antennas), LCN modes, and performing auto or manual scans for terrestrial channels.
    • DVB-C Installation: Similar to DVB-T, this allows scanning for cable broadcasted channels.
  • Electronic Programme Guide (EPG): The EPG displays program schedules and information for up to 7 days, allowing users to navigate channels, view detailed program info, set reminders, or program recordings.
  • Recording Functions: The receiver supports instant recording, timer-based recording, and EPG-booked recordings to a connected storage device. Playback and deletion of recordings are also supported.

Remote Control and USB Adapter: The remote control uses a USB adapter for RF (radio controlled) signals, enabling an "Air mouse" function via an in-built G-sensor for pointer movement on the screen in Android mode. The Standby button also works via an IR sensor.

Maintenance Features

  • Safety Instructions: Emphasizes not installing the receiver in poorly ventilated areas or exposing it to direct sunlight, intense moisture, or vibration. It also warns against using damaged power cords and advises disconnecting the power cord when not in use for extended periods.
  • Cleaning: Recommends cleaning with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with a mild soap solution, only after disconnecting from the mains. Avoid alcohol or ammonia-based liquids.
  • Troubleshooting: Provides guidance for common issues, such as the remote control not working (check batteries, USB adapter, Air mouse function), inability to turn on the receiver (check power connection), and signal problems (check cables, LNB, dish alignment, weather conditions).
  • Factory Reset: The DTV part can be reset to factory defaults, deleting all channels, favorite lists, and settings. The Android part can be reset separately through its system settings, which will reset everything including DTV.
  • System Update: Users can check for and download improved software versions from the manufacturer's website or via online update (where available). It's advised to back up DTV settings and apps before an update.
  • Data Base Management: Allows users to back up current channel lists to a USB device and load previously saved lists, preventing loss of personalized channel configurations.
  • Storage: Advises using USB 3.0 storage devices for optimal recording and playback of UHD/4K content and warns that compatibility with all USB devices is not guaranteed. It also recommends backing up data on USB storage devices before use with the receiver.
