1.
To
remove idler
wheel,
remove spacers and
slide idler
wheel
assembly
off
shaft.
2.
To
remove the bearing
from
the
idler
wheel,
remove
the
outside and inside spacers, snap
ring
and
press the bearing
out
of
the
whee
l.
NOTE:
To
protect against
wear
,
DO
NOT
allow
dirt
to enter bearings.
Reassembly and Installation
1. Reassemble bearings and
wheels
to idler shaft.
Lubricate
bearings and
shaft
before assembly.
Be
sure
large diameter spacers face to outside
of
suspension
.
NOTE:
To
prevent bearing damage, press bearings
into
the
idler
wheels
-
DO
NOT tap
them
in.
2.
Secure the idler
shaft
assembly to
the
front
spring
adjust
i
ng
bracket. Torque
the
bolts to 25
ft

LIMITERS
Limiters
Inspection
1. Inspect
limiters
for
deterioration
and damage.
Replace
as
required.
2.
Check
the
l
imiter
cross
shaft
and bell crank for
distortion.
Removal
1.
To
remove the limiter, remove
the
locknut
se
-
curing
limiter
to
the
bracket on
the
swing
arm
assembly and remove
th
e
limiter.
\WARNINGI
Front
swing
arm
is
under
heavy
spring
load. Relieve sp
ring
load
from
both
swing
arm springs
prior
to
remov
ing
limiter
shaft.
2.
To
remove the
limiter
cross
shaft,
remove
the
bolts securing it to
the
front
suspension
bracket and remove the s
ha
ft.
Reassembly
1.
Re
in
stall limiter cross shaft and
torque
to
25
ft
Ib
(3.46
kg-mI.
2.
Re
in
stall li
miter
into the bracket on
the
swing
arm. (See Figure 3-133.)
