Tail/Brake light
Replace the tail and brake light bu lb by re moving
the lens, secured by 2 screws, and then removing
the lamp from the socket. (See Figu re 2- 65 .)

Regulator Maintenance
Speedometer
The speedometer cable should be lubricat ed once a
year. R
emo ve the cable from the rea r of th e
speedometer and l ubricate the cable with graph it e.
Voltage Regulator
Check the connect ion on the wir ing h arness fro m
the voltage regulator. Mak e sure the co nn ec tion is
clean and
tight.

Driven Converter
Alignment
The converter alig nmen t ( offset) shou Id be 0.588
in. (14.9 mm) as measu red from the back face of
th e fix ed sheave on the drive converter to the edge
of the driven converter movable

If a dju s tm ent to the converter alignment is
req
uir ed:
1. Remove
th e left side al uminum tr im f rom lower
pan. (S ee Figure 2-67.)
2. Remove the bolt securing driv en converter to
the jackshaft.
3.
Slide the dr iven converter off of the j ackshaft .
Be careful not to lose t he shims inside of the
dr iven con verter . Increase or decrease the
n umber of shims as required to obtain the
0.588 in. (14.9 mm) offset. (See Fi gure 2- 68 .)
4.
Reinstall the dr iven con verter on the jack shaft ,
and torque th e bolt 40 to 50 ft Ib (5. 53 to 6.91
kg-m
).
