Synchronization of Oil Pump
and Carburetors
Synch

engine. Proceed as

1. Remove
th
e air silencer and loosen
the
idle
stop scr
ews
so
th
at both th rottle
sl
ides
bottom
o
ut
.
2.

e oil pump bel lc
ra
nk
fo
r
ward
until
it
contac
ts
th
e stop
pin
,
th
is in
sures
the
oil pu
mp
is
at
t
he
d
ea
d idle
posit
ion.
3.
Adju
st
th
e throttle cable on
the
LH
carburetor
so
th
at all of
the
slack is removed. The
throttle

raise as soon as

locknuts
on
the
oil
pump
cable, and
re
mov
e all the slack.
Adjustment
is correct
wh
en

pump
and
the

e
LH
carbu
r
etor
move

imu
ltaneously as
th
e th r
ottle
control
lever
is
ac
tivated
. (See Figure 2-49.)

Adjust
RH

arburetor

able
so
that
oil
pump
lever and
both
throttle
slides move
simultan-
eously as
the
t
hrottl
e c
ontrol
lever
is activated.
Wh
ile
inst
a
lling
the
a
ir
intake
st/encer
,
chec
k that:
1. The
cover
is
se
curely
fa
stened
to
the
si
l
encer
bo
dy
a
nd
properly
sealed.
2. The
rubber
se
als
between
sIlencer
body
a
nd
carburetors
fit
securely
during
install
ation.
3. The
intake
hose
is
directed
rearward.
Failure
to
comply
with
the
above
steps
will
cause
engine
failure
.
6.
Turn
the
idle
screw
out
3
turns
from
the
co
il
bound
for
initial
setting
. Final
adjustment
is
2,
500
RPM idle speed.
Enrichener Control Cable
With
the
enrichener
lever
at
off,
the
outer
casing
of
th
e
enrichener
cable
should
have 1/
16
in.
(1
.5
mm)
of
free
movement
when
raised. (See Figure 2 -
50
.)
