6. Test Procedure
6.1. Starting a Test

Warning: If the instrument makes any abnormal noises or exhibits any
abnormal behavior, stop operation immediately, turn the
power off at the mains, and contact Tanaka Scientific Limited
or an authorized distributor.
Press the START key (

). The RUN lamp will come on, the Expected pour/cloud point is displayed in
the specimen temperature field for three seconds, and testing begins (

).
Note (3)：The START key is disabled while the Details Screen or Sample Name Input Screen are
being displayed. Use the FUNCTION key to cycle through to the main screen before
pressing the START key.
Note (4)：Once testing has begun, test mode, preheating, and Expected pour/cloud point settings
cannot be changed. To change settings, press the RESET key to abort the current test.
From this point, testing proceeds automatically. An explanation of the automatic testing procedure follows.
6.2. Automatic Testing Process
6.2.1. Preheating
※ This process is skipped if preheating is not selected (" " displayed in the preheating display field).
During preheating, both the RUN and WARM lamps will light up and bath heating begins (

).
When the bath has reached the temperature set out below, the WARM lamp extinguishes and
bath cooling begins (

).
<Expected pour/cloud point of over 35.0°C>
The bath is heated to a temperature of "Expected pour/cloud point + 13°C". When the specimen
temperature is 10°C above the Expected pour/cloud point, cooling begins.
<Expected pour/cloud point under 35.0°C>
The bath is heated to 48°C. When the specimen temperature reaches 45°C, cooling begins.
