Type of tape which can be used for recording:
NORMAL POSITION/TYPE I
HIGH POSITION/TYPE II
Metal/TYPE IV
The unit automatically identifies the type of tape.
Check that the tape’s tabs (see page 44) are intact.
The leader tape must be wound up beforehand. (See page 24.)
Press 4 OPEN/CLOSE on
deck 2, and then insert a tape.
The illustration shows an example when
you start recording from the beginning of
the tape side A (front side) with the “D>”
kee 4 playback button.
Insert the cassette tape until it touches
S the back of the compartment.

2 4 OPEN/CLOSE Press 4 OPEN/CLOSE on
deck 2 to close the holder.
Press DOLBY NR to select ON
or OFF.
Gd “OO B” tights up when the Dolby NR sys-
tem is on.
Press REV MODE to select the
reverse mode.
NN pal : One side will record, and then
the tape will stop automatically
at the tape end.
==) =: Both sides will record (forward
side— reverse side), and then
the tape will stop automatically
at the tape end.
cut> : Same as above. (When you
press REC PAUSE, “c==>” will
be automaticaily switched over
to “[@>” and returns when the
recording has been over.)
5 Set the tape travel direction.
To change the tape travel direction, first
C= | [> ) press <J or > on the cassette deck, then

>>: Recording from the forward side
<1: Recording from the reverse side
6 Press 4 OPEN/CLOSE to load
a CD.
Press 4 OPEN/CLOSE again to close
the tray.

7 @REC PAUSE Press REC PAUSE to put the
cassette deck into the record-
ing standby mode.
REC PAUSE indicator lights.
Press [> on the CD player.
The recording will automatically start cor-
responding to the tape travel direction.

To stop recording:
Press 0 on the cassette deck.
The recording will stop and the CD playing will go on.
When you press (0 on the CD player:
The cassette deck will create a non-recorded passage of about
4 seconds, and then go into the recording standby state.
After the CD play finishes:
The cassette deck will create a non-recorded passage of about
4 seconds, and then go into the recording standby mode.
When you want to cut an unnecessary track while
recording:
Before an unnecessary track play will start,
1. Press If on the CD player.
The cassette deck will create a non-recorded passage of about
4 seconds, and then go into the recording standby mode.
2. Press <t/<< of >>/>PI to skip to the desired track.
3. Press > on the CD player to resume recording.
