4 Intended use
The instrument may only be used under the condions and for the purpose for
which it was designed:
• The instrument conforms to measurement category CAT IV with a rated
voltage of 600 V to earth for testo 770-1/-2/-3 (0590 7703), to category
CAT IV with a rated voltage of 600 V and CAT III with a rated voltage of 1000 V
to earth for testo 770-3 (0590 3770).
Measurement category CAT IV is for use at the source of voltage installaons,
e.g. building connecon, main fuse, meter. Measurement category CAT III is
applicable to test and measuring circuits connected to the distribuon part of
the building's low-voltage mains installaon.
The instrument may only be used in the elds of applicaon described in the
instrucon manual. Any other applicaon is considered improper and untested
usage, and can result in accidents or damage to the instrument. Any misuse will
result in the complete invalidaon of any warranty or guarantee claims against
Testo.
The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage to property or personal injury
resulng from the following:
• Failure to observe the instrucon manual
• Instrument modicaons not approved by the manufacturer
• The use of spare parts not approved by the manufacturer
• Use under the inuence of alcohol, drugs or medicaon
The instrument must not be used for the following circumstances:
• In potenally explosive atmospheres: the instrument is not explosion-proof!
• When there is rain or other precipitaon: risk of electric shock!
