2. Print a barberpole test (described in
subsection 2.9).
Ink smears will appear on
the paper if the printhead
is too close to
the platen. Incomplete characters or no
characters will appear
if the printhead is
too far from the platen.
3. Continue adjusting the printhead and
printing
barberpole tests until the print
appears sharp and dark.
NOTE
Adjusting the printhead cannot com-
pensate for a
worn-out ribbon. Replace
the ribbon if the printed characters are
too
light.
2.9 PRINTING THE BARBERPOLE
Before printing the
barberpole test, the printer
must be
off line. If the On Line indicator is on,
press the
On Line key once to set the printer off
line.
To print a barberpole test, sequentially press the
Normal, Command, Test, and Change keys.
To stop the
barberpole test, press the Accept or
the
Normal key.
NOTE
If
a current loop or an RS422 Interface
option is installed, a parity error, code
24, may occur. This error does not
affect printer operation.
