Fresh Air and Recirculation
Recirculating the Air
In this case, the interior air is
recirculated and fresh air is not coming
into the vehicle.
This will stop fumes (exhaust in a
tunnel, etc.) from coming in. This also
helps the vehicle to stay warm, and is
the most energy ecient setting.
The disadvantage is that the windows
may fog up and air quality is eventually
reduced.
Fresh Air
Opening the fresh air vents allows for
better air quality and is necessary to
keep the windows from fogging up
which is oen the case in cold or humid
weather.
Setting the controls to combine
recirculated and fresh air is preferable
and also helps to save energy by
utilizing the existing interior air
temperature.
In order for the ventilation system to
work properly, the air ducts on the
vehicle must not be blocked or covered
by snow or leaves.
