Whenthelatestmaintenancedisketteandthesystemprogramservicediskettebecomeavailable,they

RestoringthefactorycontentsbyusingRecoveryDiscSet
Whentheharddiskdriveorsolid-statedriveisreplacedbecauseofafailure,noproductrecoveryprogramis
onthenewdrive.Inthiscase,youmustusetheRecoveryDiscSetforthecomputer.OrdertheRecovery
DiscSetandthedriveatthesametimesothatyoucanrecoverthenewdrivewiththepre-installedsoftware
whentheyarrive.Forinformationonwhichdiscstoorder,gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/serviceparts-lookup.
TherecoverydiscsetconsistsoftheuserinstructionsandthefollowingsetofDVDstorestorethecomputer
totheoriginalfactoryconguration.
•OperatingSystemRecoveryDisc(onedisc):ThisdiscrestorestheMicrosoftWindowsoperatingsystem.
Usethisdisctostarttherecoveryprocess.
•ApplicationsandDriversRecoveryDisc(oneormorediscs):Thisdiscrestoresthepreinstalled
applicationsanddriversonthecomputer.
•SupplementalRecoveryDisc:Thisdisccontainsadditionalcontent,suchasupdatestothesoftwarethat
waspreinstalledonthecomputer.NotallrecoverydiscsetscomewithaSupplementalRecoveryDisc.
Notes:
•Y oumusthaveaDVDdrivetousetherecoverydiscs.IfyoudonothaveaninternalDVDdrive,you
canuseanexternalUSBDVDdrive.
•Duringtherecoveryprocess,alldataonthedrivewillbedeleted.Ifpossible,copyanyimportantdata
orpersonallesthatyouwanttokeepontoremovablemediaoranetworkdrivebeforeyoustartthe
recoveryprocess.
Torestorethecomputertotheoriginalfactorycongurationusingtherecoverydiscset,dothefollowing:

Ifyouuserecoverydiscs,therecoveryprocesswilltakeabouttwohours.
1.MaketheCD/DVDdrivetherststartupdeviceinthestartupsequenceusingthefollowingprocedure:
a.PressandholddowntheF1key,andthenturnonthecomputer.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed
orwhenyouhearrepeatingbeeps,releasetheF1key.TheThinkPadSetupprogramopens.
b.UsethearrowkeystoselectStartup➙Boot.
c.SelecttheCD/DVDdriveasthe1stBootDevice.
2.InserttheOperatingSystemRecoveryDiscintotheDVDdrive.
3.PressF10tosavetheThinkPadSetupprogramcongurationchanges.Followtheinstructionsonthe
screentobegintherecoveryprocess.
