4.4 50 HOUR SERVICE
4.4C Engine Air Filter
The engine is equipped with a dual ele-
ment, radial seal, air cleaner with an air
precleaner. The air filter service indicator
should be checked daily. If the indicator
window shows a red condition, the air filter
element must be replaced. Use only
Thomas approved air filter elements.
On average, for every 3 primary filter ele-
ments replaced, replace the inner safety ele-
ment.

eplace the air filter
elements:
1. Note the condition of the air cleaner
restriction indicator. If the indicator
shows red, depress the button to reset.
2. Unlatch the air cleaner cover (T90121).
3. Pull gently on the primary air filter ele-
ment to remove (S0072).
4. Note the condition of the safety (sec-
ondary) filter element (S0073). If it is
excessively dirty or holes are present,
replace it.
5. Wipe out dirt from inside the air cleaner
canister and replace with new filter ele-
ments. Support the rear of the canister
when inserting the elements. Do not use
the cover and latches to seat the air fil-
ter elements in to position.
The air filter elements are not serviceable
by blowing with compressed air or
washing. Replacement
only.
