4.7G Brake Chambers
This machine is equipped with air/spring
brake chambers on the axles and tailgate
latch mechanism. Prior to removal make
sure air pressure is released and spring is
caged. (Refer to chamber manufacturer ser-
vice manual for proper caging and removal
instructions.)
4.7H Kingpin Maintenance
Kingpins should be inspected semi-annual-
ly. To inspect the flatness of the bolster
plate use a 48" straight edge. The bolster
plate should be replaced if it is deformed
more than is shown below.
Inspect the diameter of the kingpin.
Replace the kingpin if it is worn 1/8" or
more, on either the 2" or 2-7/8" diameter
(in either direction).
Do not attempt to remove or service
the spring chamber clamp ring on any
spring brake actuator. A large spring
in the spring chamber having extreme
force could cause serious bodily injury
if it were suddenly released due to
inadvertent removal of this clamp.
