4 Operating the machine
Connection to tractor
The machine is connected to the tractor’s hitch and drawbar.
A single-acting hydraulic outlet with open return to tank is recommended.
A double acting outlet can also be used.
The return hose features a return-stroke valve (characterised by greater insertion length) to
prevent the oil fl ow from moving in the wrong direction in case of faulty connection.
The pressure hose is connected to the oil fi lter.
Observe!
On John Deere tractors up to and including the 40-series, the return oil should go direct by the oil
fi lter. Contact your John Deere dealer for information about the need to modify the tractor.
4.1 Open/closed centre system
When connected to a tractor with constant pressure hydraulics (Check tractor dealer for
information), the control section of the valve must be reset according to the following description
see Fig. 36
• Unscrew coverplug 4 and plug 22
• Mount orifi ce 7 and plug 24 with seal 23.
• Refi t coverplug 4 and seal 5.
When connected to a tractor with open centre hydraulics, plug 24 with seal 23, and orifi ce 7
must be replaced by plug 22. If not, all oil will pass with full pressure over the tractor hydraulic’s
safety valve with a risk of damaging the tractors hydraulic pump!
4.2 Integrated oil fi lter
The fi lter should be exchanged when the indicator on top of the fi lter shows a red indicator.
Check the fi lter when the oil is warm. Cold oil may give wrong indication.
