10.Whennished,returnthebacklaplevertothe
Fposition,movethereelspeedknobtothe
desiredreel-speedsetting,lowertheseat,and
washalllappingcompoundoffofthecutting
units.Adjustcuttingunitreeltobedknifeas
needed.
Important:Ifyoudonotreturnthebacklap
levertotheFpositionafterbacklapping,
thecuttingunitswillnotraiseorfunction
properly.
Storage
StorageSafety
Shutoffthemachine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovementtostopbeforeyouleavethe
operatorsposition.Allowthemachinetocool
beforeadjusting,servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,such
asonawaterheaterorotherappliance.
PreparingtheMachinefor
Storage
Ifyouwishtostorethemachineforalongperiodof
time,performthefollowingstepspriortostorage:
1.Alwaysparkthemachine,engagetheparking
brake,shutofftheengine,removethekey,and
waitforallmovementtostopbeforecleaning
orstoringthemachine.
2.Removeaccumulationsofdirtandoldgrass
clippings.Sharpenthereelsandbedknives,if
necessary;refertothecuttingunitOperator's
Manual.Usearustpreventiveonbedknivesand
reelblades.Greaseandoilalllubricationpoints;
refertoGreasingtheMachine(page32).
3.Blockupthewheelstoremoveanyweighton
thetires.
4.Drainandreplacethehydraulicuidandlter
andinspectthehydrauliclinesandttings.
Replace,ifnecessary;refertoChanging
theHydraulicFluidandFilter(page45)and
CheckingtheHydraulicLinesandHoses(page
46).
5.Removeallfuelfromthefueltank.Runthe
engineuntilitshutsofffromlackoffuel.Replace
thefuellter;refertoReplacingtheFuelFilter
(page36).
6.Whiletheengineisstillwarm,draintheoilfrom
thecrankcase.Rellitwithfreshoil;referto
ChangingtheEngineOilandFilter(page34).
7.Cleandirtandchafffromthecylinder,cylinder
headns,andblowerhousing.
8.Removethebatteryandchargeitfully.Either
storeitontheshelforonthemachine.Leave
thecablesdisconnectedifitisstoredonthe
machine.Storethebatteryinacoollocationto
preventthebatteryfromdischargingquickly..
9.Storethemachineinawarm,drylocation.
