1.Disengagetheblade-controlswitch(PTO),movethe
motion-controlleverstotheNEUTRAL-LOCKposition,
andsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Removethedustcapfromcasterandtightenthe
locknut(Figure57).
4.Tightenthelocknutuntilthespringwashersareat,
andthenbackoffa1/4turntoproperlysetthepreload
onthebearings(Figure57).
Important:Makesurethatthespringwashersare
installedcorrectlyasshowninFigure57.

gaugethroughaninspectionslotinthesideofthe
assembly.
Note:Makesurethatitisbetweenthearmatureand
therotor-frictionsurfaces.
Note:Thegapneedstobeatleast0.38mm(0.015
inch),andnotmorethan0.53mm(0.02inch).
2.Ifadjustmentisneeded,thensetat0.38mm(0.015
inch)foreachofthe3adjustmentslotpositions.
3.Tightenthelocknutsuntilthereisaslightbindingon
thefeelergauge,butitcanbemovedeasilywithinthe
airgap(Figure58).
4.Repeatthisfortheremainingslots.
5.Checkeachslotagainandmakeslightadjustmentsuntil
thefeelergaugebetweentherotorandarmaturewith
veryslightcontactbetweenthem.
