Training

task;

conditions,especiallyslopes;
incorrecthitchingandloaddistribution.
Preparation
Whilemowing,alwayswearsubstantial,
slip-resistantfootwearandlongtrousers.Tieback
longhair.Donotwearjewelry.
Thoroughlyinspecttheareawhereyouwilluse
theequipmentandremoveallobjectswhichthe
machinemaythrowatyou.
Warning–Fuelishighlyammable.
Storefuelincontainersspecicallydesigned
forthispurpose.
Refuelthemachineoutdoorsonlyanddonot
smokewhilerefuelling.
Addfuelbeforestartingtheengine.Never
removethecapofthefueltankoraddfuel
whiletheengineisrunningorwhentheengine
ishot.
Ifyouspillfuel,donotattempttostartthe
enginebutmovethemachineawayfromthe
areaofspillageandavoidcreatinganysource
ofignitionuntilthefuelvaporshavedissipated.
Replaceallfueltanksandcontainercaps
securely.
Replacefaultysilencers.
Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethat
theblades,bladebolts,andcutterassemblyare
notwornordamaged.Replacewornordamaged
bladesandboltsinsetstopreservebalance.
Onmulti-bladedmachines,takecareasrotating
onebladecancauseotherbladestorotate.
Operation
Lightningcancausesevereinjuryordeath.If
lightningisseenorthunderisheardinthearea,do
notoperatethemachine;seekshelter.
Bealert,slowdown,andusecautionwhenmaking
turns.Lookbehindandtothesidebeforechanging
directions.
Donotoperatetheengineinaconnedspace
wheredangerouscarbonmonoxidefumescan
collect.
Mowonlyindaylightoringoodarticiallight.
Beforeattemptingtostarttheengine,disengage
allblade-attachmentclutchesandshiftthe
transmissionintoneutral.
Donotuseonslopesgreaterthan15degrees.
Rememberthatthereisnosuchthingasasafe
slope.Travelongrassslopesrequiresparticular
care.Toguardagainstoverturning:
donotstoporstartsuddenlywhenonaslope;
useslowspeedsonslopesandduringtight
turns;
stayalertforhumpsandhollowsandother
hiddenhazards;
