locatedbeneaththehood,nearthefueltank(Figure
34).Ifafusegoesout,checkthecircuitwiringfora
short.

Toreplaceafuse,pulluptoremovetheoldfusefrom
thesocket.Insertanewfusebypushingitdowninto
thesocket.
Note:Ensurethatthenewfusehasthesame
amperageastheoldfusethatyouarereplacing.
ServicingtheBattery
Important:Donotstarttheenginewithabattery
booster(jumpstarter)pack.Jump-startingthe
enginewithabatteryboosterpackmaydamage
electroniccomponentsofthemachine.
Alwayskeepthebatterycleanandfullycharged.Use
apapertoweltocleanthebatteryandbatterybox.If
thebatteryterminalsarecorroded,cleanthemwith
asolutionof4partswaterand1partbakingsoda.
Applyalightcoatingofgreasetothebatteryterminals
topreventthemfromcorroding.
Batteryvoltageandamperage:12volts,190cold
crankingamps
RemovingtheBattery
WARNING
Batteryterminalsormetaltoolscouldshort
againstmetalmachinecomponentscausing
sparks.Sparkscancausethebatterygasses
toexplode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
Whenremovingorinstallingthebattery,
donotallowthebatteryterminalstotouch
anymetalpartsofthemachine.
Donotallowmetaltoolstoshortbetween
thebatteryterminalsandthemetalparts
ofthemachine.
1.Disengagetheblades(PTO).
2.Settheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartsto
stop.
4.Removetheignitionkey.
5.Liftuptheseattoseethebattery.
6.Lifttherubbercoverupoffthenegative(black)
cable.
7.Disconnectthenegative(black)groundcable
fromthebatterypost(Figure35).
