tightentheboltsto9.6to10.7N∙m(85to95in-lb).
Note:Transmissiongearboxassembly(26)mustbeleakfree.Applya
pressureof2.5PSIfor30secondswithoutdroppingmorethan1PSI.
47.Fillthetransmissiongearboxassembly(26)with1.35lbs(24oz)ofMobil
SHC007grease.
48.ApplyacoatofgreasetotheO-ringsandinsertontothehollowhexplugs.
Installthe2hollowhexplugs(item27inFigure33)intothetransmission
gearboxassembly(26).
49.Torquetightenthehollowhexplugsfrom12.4to14.7N·m(110to130in-lb).
InstallingtheTransmissionGearBoxAssembly
1.Installtheclutchbearingontothetransmissiongearboxassembly;referto
InstallingtheClutchBearing(page5–22).
2.Positionthetransmissiongearboxassembly(10)ontothebellhousing
andsecurewith3bolts.Keeptheengineboltsloose,slidetheengine
transmissionassemblylaterallyuntilthetransmissioncontactsthemounting
surfaceontheenginebase.Tightentheengineboltsandsecurethe
transmissionwith2angebolts.
3.Installandadjusttheslideradapter(7)untiltheneutralpositionisachieved
andlockthepositionwithjamnut(8)ontothetransmissiongearbox
assembly(10).
4.Slidetheexternalclutchhubontothesliderclutchdiscandsecurewiththe
clutchhubclamp,2boltsand2locknuts;refertoInstallingtheClutchBearing
(page5–22).
5.Slideandinstalltheforkshaftintothebellhousing;refertoInstallingthe
ClutchBearing(page5–22).Securetheforkshaftwitharetainingring.
6.Installtheclutchcoverontothebellhousingandsecurewith2bolts.
7.Installthesplinedcouplers(item2inFigure32)tothedriveshaft(5)and
securewithtrussscrews(1),washers(3)andnuts(4).T orquetightenthe
trussscrewsto10to12.4N∙m(90to110in-lb).
8.Slidethehextube(16)ontothereeldriveboxassemblyandlockwithcollar
lock(15).
9.Checkandadjustthealignmentoftransmissiondriveshaftandreeldrive
shaft;refertoInstallingtheEngineBase(page4–15).
10.Ifremoved,installthereelcable;refertoInstallingtheReelCable(page
7–13).
11.Installthebrakecable;refertoInstallingtheBrakeCable(page7–8).
12.Installtheclutchcable;refertoInstallingtheClutchCable(page7–10).
13.Attachthesparkplugwiretothesparkplug.
