ServicingtheAirCleaner
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Check
theair-lter-serviceindicator.
Every25hours—Removetheair-cleanercover,
cleanoutdebris,andchecktheair-lter-service
indicator.
ServicingtheAir-CleanerCover
andBody
Important:Replacetheair-cleanerlteronly
whentheserviceindicatorshowsred(Figure41).
Changingtheairlterbeforeitisnecessaryonly
increasesthechanceofdirtenteringtheengine
whenyouremovethelter.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engage
theparkingbrake(ifequipped),andlowerthe
loaderarms.
2.Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
3.Openthehoodandsecuretheproprod(if
applicable).
4.Checktheair-cleanerbodyfordamagethat
couldcauseanairleak.Checkthewholeintake
systemforleaks,damage,orloosehoseclamps.
Replaceorrepairanydamagedcomponents.
5.Releasethelatchesontheaircleanerandpull
theair-cleanercoverofftheair-cleanerbody
(Figure41).
Important:Donotremovetheairlter.

8.Checktheserviceindicator.
•Iftheserviceindicatorisclear,installthe
air-cleanercoverwiththedustcaporiented
downwardandsecurethelatches(Figure
41).
•Iftheserviceindicatorisred,replacethe
airlterasdescribedinReplacingtheFilter
(page29).
ReplacingtheFilter
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewiththeairlterandcover
installed.
1.Gentlyslidethelteroutoftheair-cleanerbody
(Figure41).
Note:Avoidknockingthelterintothesideof
thebody.
Important:Donotattempttocleanthelter.
2.Inspectthenewlterfortears,anoilylm,or
damagetotherubberseal.Lookintothelter
whileshiningabrightlightontheoutsideofthe
lter;holesinthelterappearasbrightspots.
Ifthelterisdamaged,donotuseit.
3.Carefullyinstallthelter(Figure41).
Note:Ensurethatthelterisfullyseated
bypushingontheouterrimofthelterwhile
installingit.
