Split by Barcode
Using a barcode by inserting a separator page with a barcode between documents determines
when a new file is created. This option allows you to create multiple documents of variable page
length from the batch of pages. For example a batch of contracts of multiple page lengths can
be scanned to a per contract by detecting a reference barcode on either the first or the last page
of the document.
Splitting by Barcode:
1. You have a number of variable length documents that need to be scanned.
2. Print as many barcode header sheets as the number of documents that need to be
scanned. A barcode header sheet is a sheet with nothing on it except a barcode.
3. Put one barcode header sheet on the top of each document. Stack all documents on
top of each other and take the stack to MFP.
4. Select the barcode template.
5. You either:
Specify the barcode value at the MFP, or
The barcode value is pre-determined by the e-BRIDGE Re-Rite configuration.
1. In the e-BRIDGE Re-Rite Web Control Panel, create either Folder or
Batch Rule.
2. Click the OCR Settings Tab.
3. In the Split Type field, select Barcode
4. In the Split At field, type the barcode value.
5. Click Save.
6. Scan all pages into MFP.
e-BRIDGE Re-Rite processes all the pages and delivers the individual documents
converted into the format and language specified by the template.
e-BRIDGE Re-Rite supports Code 39 barcode and should have a minimum of 2.5cm(1
inch) size for easy readability. Recommended length is 12 characters, only numeric.
There is no need to put a barcode separator page at the start of the first batch.
NOTE: Make sure you specify the value of your barcode and page on the Split At field.
These settings can be found under the OCR Settings of the selected Process Rule in
the e-BRIDGE Re-Rite Web Control Panel.
The naming of the PDF files is generated by affixing an incremental number in front of the
original filename. Example: A document with a filename expenses 10 10 2006 16-43-
31.556.pdf would generate
n_expenses 10 10 2006 16-43-31.556.pdf, where n is the
document/split number. If there are 2 documents generated. It will have the
filename:1_expenses 10 10 2006 16-43-31.556.pdf and 2_expenses 10 10 2006 16-43-
31.556.pdf.
