1.5 Specifications of the DN311

1.5.2 Number of mounting modules
This section describes the number of DN311s that can be mounted in the S controller and
the instruction execution time in accessing the DN311 from the S controller.
(1) Number of DN311s that can be mounted
The number of DN311s that can be mounted is to be determined by
(a) the power capacity of the power module of the model 3000 and the overall
current consumption of the S controller and
(b) limitations on installing D311s in the base unit and extension unit.
S3CPU with system buses (Only one station module mounted)
• Number of DN311s to install in the main base unit (BU742):
From the power capacity, (7000 - 1800 - 100) ÷ 600 = 8.5. That is, 8 DN311s can be
mounted. The G3 bus capacity of the BU742 is adequate for 9 DN311s, so 8 DN311s
can be mounted in the base unit.
• Number of DN311s to install in the extension base unit (BU35B):
From the power capacity, (7000 - 20) ÷ 600 = 11.3. That is, 11 DN311s can be
mounted.The G3 bus capacity of the BU35B is adequate for 11 DN311s, so 11 DN311s
can be mounted in the extension base unit.
The maximum configuration of the model 3000 includes up to 4 systems, each consisting
of one main base unit and 7 extension base units. Therefore, the number of DN311s that
can be mounted is 316.
S3CPU without system bus
• Number of DN311s to install in the main base unit (BU719):
From the power capacity, (7000 - 1500 - 100) ÷ 600 = 9. That is, 9 DN311s can be
mounted. The G3 bus capacity of the BU719 is adequate for 9 DN311s, so 9 DN311s
can be mounted in the main base unit.
• Number of DN311s to install in the extension base unit (BU35B):
From the power capacity, (7000 - 20) ÷ 600 = 11.3. That is, 11 DN311s can be
mounted.The G3 bus capacity of the BU35B is adequate for 11 DN311s, so 11 DN311s
can be mounted in the extension base unit.
The maximum configuration of the model 3000 includes up to 4 systems, each consisting
of one main base unit and 7 extension base units. Therefore, the number of DN311s that
can be mounted is 317.
The number of DN311s that can be mounted in an actual system varies depending on the
number of other modules than the DN311 to be used in the system.
