ZED-F9R-Integration manual
u-center application. RTCM corrections from a virtual reference service are also supported by the u-
center NTRIP client.
3.1.6 SPARTN corrections
ZED-F9R can receive SPARTN corrections:
• via the internet from a service provider
• via UART, directly connect u-blox NEO-D9S that receives L-band satellite data.
For more information see the Multiple SPARTN sources section
If you choose PointPerfect service, contact your local u-blox technical support
3.1.6.1 SPARTN protocol
SPARTN is a binary data protocol for communication of correction information.
ZED-F9R supports SPARTN as specified by SPARTN Interface Control Document – Version 2.0.1
(September, 2021).
To modify the SPARTN input/output settings, see the configuration section in the applicable
interface description [2].
Users should be aware of the datum used by the correction source.
3.1.6.2 List of supported SPARTN 2.0.1 input messages
Message type-subtype Description
SM 0-0 GPS orbit, clock, bias (OCB)
SM 0-1 GLONASS orbit, clock, bias (OCB)
SM 0-2 Galileo orbit, clock, bias (OCB)
SM 1-0 GPS high-precision atmosphere correction (HPAC)
SM 1-1 GLONASS high-precision atmosphere correction (HPAC)
SM 1-2 Galileo high-precision atmosphere correction (HPAC)
SM 2-0 Geographic area definition (GAD)
Table 5: ZED-F9R supported input SPARTN version 2.0.1 messages
HPS 1.30 firmware implements SPARTN version 2.0.1 protocol, where:
• Only the messages in Table 5 are supported. The implementation recognizes BeiDou and QZSS
messages but is not able to apply these corrections.
• Group and embedded authentication messages are not supported.
• SM1 messages must contain tropospheric model for the receiver to reach an RTK fixed solution.
Application designs using ZED-F9R and SPARTN correction streams should provide firmware
upgrade capability; upcoming firmware versions will implement further SPARTN messages and
functionalities.
3.1.7 Multiple SPARTN sources
ZED-F9R supports multiple SPARTN correction stream sources. It can support a SPARTN correction
stream received over the internet (SPARTN message formatted IP stream) or over L-band satellites
(SPARTN L-band stream formatted as UBX-RXM-PMP messages).
Only one source can be configured to be used at a time by ZED-F9R. The configuration item CFG-
SPARTN-USE_SOURCE can be configured to select which source will be used. Alternatively, the
input protocol configuration items of a physical port can be configured to block input support for
