Chapter 4. Application
The Device supports lots of functions, such as: DHCP, DDNS, MAC Filter, Bandwidth Control,
Virtual Server, Remote management, Cloud storage and so on. We will introduce them in detail in
this chapter.
4.1 DHCP server
The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) provides a framework for passing configuration
information to hosts on a TCP/IP network. DHCP allows a host to be configured automatically,
eliminating the need for intervention by a network administrator. The Device can act as a DHCP
server to assign network addresses and deliver other TCP/IP configuration parameters (such as
gateway IP address, DNS server IP address, etc.) to the LAN hosts.
A DHCP address pools contains specific IP configuration details that the DHCP server can assign
to clients. The Device provides a default DHCP address pool with a name of DHCP Pool. By default,
the Device assigns IP addresses from the default address pool. You can add one or more custom
address pools for different wireless subnets. Note that wireless address pools will only serve
wireless clients but not wired clients.
