How To Replace Old Vantage Thermostats
Replacing Vantage’s old thermostat with a new Vantage thermostat is easy. Typically it is simply a
matter of removing the old thermostat and base and installing the new thermostat and base. It is
important to read this Operation and Installation Manual to completely understand the features.
Common issues with Solutions
1. How to replace an old Thermostat with Vantage’s new Thermostat.
a. To prevent damage or blown fuses to the HVAC system and other equipment: Turn
power off to old thermostat before removing Thermostat from Base
b. Note which wires are connected to the old Base, i.e., W1, W2, Y1, Y2, O/B, R, G, X2, X1
etc.
c. Disconnect the wires from the old Base and remove the old Base.
d. Install the new Base and Connect all the old wires to the new Base following the table on
page 17 of this manual, i.e., W1 on old thermostat goes to W1 on new thermostat, etc.
e. If the old thermostat has external sensors see step 3 below.
f. Restore power to the newly installed thermostat
2. How to power the new thermostat.
The new thermostat only accepts ONE
power source. It does not have a removable jumper

equipment (see pages 17-20 for connections).
3. How to connect External Indoor and Outdoor Sensors to Vantage’s new Thermostat.
