Checking the ignition and ionisation electrode for auxiliary

Ionisation electrode
1. Check the electrodes for wear and
contamination.
2. Clean the electrodes with a small
brush (not with a wire brush) or sand-
paper.
3. Check the electrode gaps. If the gaps
are not as specified or the electrodes
are damaged, replace the electrodes
together with new gaskets and adjust
them as required. Tighten the elec-
trode fixing screws with 4.5 Nm.
Checking the ignition and ionisation electrode of the Stirling
burner
Danger
The Stirling engine contains com-
ponents made from ceramic
fibres which are not released if
handled correctly. The use of
incorrect procedures when
removing the electrodes can lead
to the release of ceramic fibres.
Observe the stipulations of the
Technical Guidelines for the Han-
dling of Hazardous Materials
(TRGS) 521 [or local regula-
tions].
