Lubrication System
Volvo Penta only recommends the use of genuine
Volvo Penta oils with the correct VDS (Volvo Drain
Specification) standards.
Genuine Volvo Penta oils are extensively tested and
quality assured by Volvo Penta to optimize
performance, reduce fuel consumption and maximize
the life of the engine.
More detailed information regarding oil quality,
viscosity and oil drain interval, refer to chapter
Lubrication System, page 140.
Oil level, checking and topping up
Check the oil level with the engine shut down and in a
horizontal level.
The oil level must be within the marked range on the
dipstick.
There is a low level alarm installed as standard, but
make sure to check the oil level anyway every once in
a while.
Fill lubrication oil through the filler opening on the side
of the engine. Wait a few minutes to allow the oil to run
into the oil sump then make sure you have filled to the
right level. After filling oil, secure filler cap.
IMPORTANT:
Do not fill up above the maximum oil level. Only use a
recommended viscosity and quality of oil.
