7.2.4 Checking exciter oil level and topping up exciter oil
1. Place the machine upright on a flat surface.
2. Switch off the engine.
3. Let the machine cool off.
4. Lay out impermeable sheet over the workspace to protect the ground from
the oil.
5. Unscrew the screw plug and remove complete with sealing ring.
6. Check whether the exciter oil reaches the start of the thread of the filler hole.
7. If the exciter oil level is below the thread, use a clean funnel to replenish the
exciter oil.
See the chapter Technical data for the oil specification.
8. Screw in screw plug complete with a new sealing ring and tighten. Torque
100 Nm.
9. Wipe off any spilled oil.
Note:
Dispose of the oil in accordance with the applicable environmental regulations.
WARNING
Hot exciter oil can spill, causing scalding injuries.
f Do not open the screw plug on the exiter while the exciter oil is hot.
f Let machine cool off.
