Wrinkles at the edges of larger envelopes can create printing irregularities. This problem is illustrated in the image
below.
To keep individual sheets separated, the printer uses different tension on the front feed rollers and back feed rollers.
The slight difference in feed-roller tension applied between the front and back of the envelope can cause the front
and back panels of the envelope to become misaligned. This misalignment causes creasing at the edges of the
envelope, as shown in the image below.
If you do not print near the edges of the envelope, you can avoid the toner-related issues shown below. However,
the physical wrinkles to the envelope are unavoidable with large, lighter-weight paper envelopes, such as C4 or 9 x
12 in.
This can be avoided if you use envelopes of a heavier weight. It is also possible that large, lighter-weight envelopes
do not feed reliably. Always test the media before you commit to the print job.
