Throttle override system
(T.O.R.S.)
EWS00041
If the T.O.R.S. is activated, make sure that
the cause of the malfunction has been cor-
rected and that the engine can be operated
without a problem before restarting the
engine. Continuing to operate with a mal-
function could cause loss of control or
damage.
If the throttle valves or throttle cable malfunc-
tions during operation, the T.O.R.S. will be ac-
tivated when the throttle lever is released.
The T.O.R.S. is designed to override the fuel
injection (RS90P / RS90PLT / RST90PGT)
or ignition (RST90) and limit the engine
speed to less than the clutch engagement
speed if the throttle valves fail to return to the
idle position when the throttle lever is re-
leased. (See page 122 for the clutch engage-
ment speed.)
If the T.O.R.S. is activated, the warning light
and engine trouble warning indicator flash,
and the two-digit code “84” displays (RS90P /
RS90PLT / RST90PGT) or flashes (RST90)
in the meter display. If this occurs, have a
Yamaha dealer check the system as soon as
possible.
