5. Adjust:

engine idling speed

a. Turn the pilot air screw
1
in or out until it is
lightly seated.
b. Turn the pilot air screw out the specified
number of turns.
c. Turn the throttle stop screw

in direction

until the specified engine idling
speed is obtained.
Pilot air screw setting
1-5/8 turns out

NOTE:
Prior to adjusting the engine idling speed, the air
filter element should be clean, and the engine
should have adequate compression.
1. Remove:
9
side cowlings (left and right)
9
front cowling
9
rear cowling (left)
Refer to “REMOVING THESIDECOWL-
INGS”, “REMOVING THE FRONTCOWL-
ING” and “REMOVINGTHEREARCOWL-
INGS”.
2. Start the engine and let it warm up for sev-
eral minutes.
3. Connect:
9
engine tachometer
(onto the spark plug lead)
4. Check:
9
engine idling speed
Out of specification
Adjust.
Engine tachometer

Engine idling speed
1,300–1,500 r/min
Direction
aa
Engine idling speed is
increased.
Direction
bb
Engine idling speed is
decreased.
