Mulching (If Equipped)
Selectmodelscomeequippedwitha mulchkitwhich
incorporatesspecialblades,alreadystandardonthe
tractor,ina processof recirculatinggrassclippings
repeatedlybeneaththecuttingdeck.Theultra-fine
clippingsarethenforcedbackintothe lawnwherethey
actasa naturalfertilizer.
Observethefollowingpointsforthebestresultswhen
mulching:
Neverattemptto mulchif the lawnis damp.Wetgrass
tendsto stickto theundersideof the cuttingdeck
preventingpropermulchingoftheclippings.
Do NOTattemptto mulchmorethan 1/3the total
heightof thegrassor approximately1-1/2inches.
Doingsowillcausetheclippingsto clumpup beneath
thedeckand notbe mulchedeffectively.
Maintaina slowgroundspeedto allowthegrass
clippingsmoretimeto effectivelybemulched.
Alwayspositionthe throttlecontrolleverinthe FAST
(rabbit)positionandallowit to remaintherewhile
mowing.Failingto keepthe engineat full throttle
placesstrainon the tractor'sengineand doesnot
allowthebladesto properlymulchgrass.

NOTE:It is not necessaryto removethe dischargechute
tooperatethe mowerwiththe mulchkit installed.
Tooperatethe cuttingdeckwithoutmulching,simply
removethemulchplugbyunthreadingtheplasticwing
nutwhichfastensittothecuttingdeck.Thiswill allowthe
clippingstodischargeouttheside.See Figure13.
Headlights
Onsomemodels,the lampsareON wheneverthe
tractor'sengineisrunning.Onothermodels,the
lampsareONwhenevertheignitionkeyis movedout
oftheSTOPposition.
Onall models,thelampsturnOFFwhentheignition
keyismovedtotheSTOPposition.
