androtatethebladenearestthedischargechuteso
thatitisparallelwiththetractor.
2. Measurethedistancefromthe frontofthe bladetip to
thegroundandtherearofthebladetip to the ground.
Thefirstmeasurementtakenshouldbebetween
1/4"and 3/8"lessthan thesecondmeasurement.
Determinetheapproximatedistancenecessaryfor
properadjustmentandproceed,ifnecessary,tothe
nextstep.
3. Locatethejamnutandlocknutonthefrontsideof the
stabilizerbracket.See Figure14.Afterlooseningthe
jamnut:
Tightenthelocknutto raisethefrontof the deck;
Loosenthe locknut to lowerthefrontof the deck.
4. Retightenthejamnutloosenedearlierwhenproper
adjustmentisachieved.

Leveling the Deck
NOTE:Checkthe tractor'stirepressurebeforeperform-
inganydeck levelingadjustments.Referto Tires on
page24 for informationregardingtire pressure.
Front To Rear
Thefrontofthecuttingdeckis supportedbya stabilizer
barthatcanadjustedtolevelthedeckfromfrontto rear.
Thefrontofthedeckshouldbebetween1/4-inchand
3/8-inchlowerthantherearof the deck.Adjustif
necessaryasfollows:
Side to Side
If the cuttingdeckappearsto bemowingunevenly,a side
tosideadjustmentcanbeperformed.Adjustif necessary
asfollows:
1. Withthe tractorparkedona firm,levelsurface,place
thedecklift leverin the top notch(highestposition)
androtatebothbladessothattheyareperpendicular
withthetractor.
2. Measurethedistancefromthe outsideoftheleftblade
tiptothegroundandthedistancefromtheoutsideof
therightbladetiptotheground.Bothmeasurements
takenshouldbeequal.Ifthey'renot,proceedto the
nextstep.
3. Loosen,butdo NOTremove,the hexcap screwon
theleftdeckhangerbracket.SeeFigure15.
4. Balancethedeckbyusingawrenchto turn the
adjustmentgear (foundimmediatelybehindthe hex
capscrewjust loosened)clockwise/uporcounter-
clockwise/down.Thedeckis properlybalancedwhen
bothbladetipmeasurementstakenearlierareequal.
5. Retightenthehexcapscrewontheleft deckhanger
bracketwhenproperadjustmentis achieved.
Parking Brake Adjustment
_ ARNING" Never attempt to ad-

running. Always disengage PTO,
move shift lever into neutral posi-
tion, stop engine and remove key
to prevent unintended starting.
If the tractordoes notcometo a completestopwhenthe
brakepedaliscompletelydepressed,or if the tractor's
rearwheelscanrollwiththeparkingbrakeapplied,the
