(18) FDD Assembly
The FDD Assembly supports the formats of 640kB, 720kB, 1.2MB, 1.44MB on 3.5 inch
disk.
4.4 Functions of Each Gate Array
The following items describe the IC and the Gate Array functions used in each assem-
bly.
(1) The wide frequency bandwidth amplifier IC
Performs the continuous gain control (×1 to ×20) by the Gilbert-cell method. The
frequency bandwidth is appox. 450 MHz.
(2) Analog Front-end Controller (AFC)
It is the CMOS gate array which aims to generate the control signals and the PWM
signal for the D/A converter. The AFC gate array mounted on the AFC Board Assembly
generates the control signal of ATT, the PWM signals for the offset voltage of the
amplifiers, the Gain control voltage, the trigger threshold voltage. The AFC gate array
mounted on the TRIG Board Assembly produces the PMW signals for the D/A con-
verter of the reference voltage of the A/D converters, the trigger level voltage of the
external trigger and the threshold voltage of the Logic probes.
(3) Timing Control Logic (TCL)
It is the CMOS gate array which aims to control timing of the acquisition section and
the trigger section.
