7. Explosion Protected Type Instruments
• Only trained personnel may use the instrument in an industrial location.
• The instrument modication or replacement of parts by other than an authorized Representative of
Yokogawa is prohibited and will void the certication.
• Electrostatic charge on painted or other non- metallic surfaces may cause an explosion hazard.
Avoid any actions that cause the generation of electrostatic charge, such as rubbing with a dry
cloth on painted surface of the indicator or on potting of electronic transmitter.
The electronic transmitter RAMC---P429 /S1 is an intrinsically safe device.
To ensure intrinsic safety it is not permitted to repair or to modify the electronic transmitter, the display or
the calibration EEPROM.
In the case of high uid temperatures, heated metering tubes or heat radiation by heat tracing, make
sure that the temperature in the indicator housing does not exceed the permissible maximum ambient
temperature of the transmitter (see below chapter 7.1.1).

7.1.1 Technical data
The electronic transmitter is an intrinsically safe device. This device is certied for hazardous areas of zone 1
(category 2) and zone 2 (category 3). It is not homologated for zone 0 (category 1). The classications in
brackets are given according to Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX).
