Figure 111 Band Steering Application
Note: For AP steering and band steering to work, the controller and all the APs in the network
need to have the same SSID and password. Therefore, we recommend using the
controller to change the SSID and password.
When MPro Mesh is enabled:
The SSID and WiFi password of the main 2.4 GHz wireless network will be copied to the main 5 GHz
wireless network.
If users change the modes of an MPro Mesh-supported extender, users need to wait until it finishes
booting before creating an MPro Mesh network with a controller.
See the steps below on how to set up an MPro Mesh network.
Configurations on an MPro Mesh-Supported Extender
1 Prepare an MPro Mesh-supported extender from Zyxel.
2 If the MPro Mesh-supported extender is in repeater mode, enable the wireless LAN. See your MPro Mesh-
supported extender’s UG for how to enable the wireless LAN.
3 If the MPro Mesh-supported extender is in AP mode, connect it to the Zyxel Device using an Ethernet
cable.
4 Turn on the MPro Mesh-supported extender.
5 Enable MPro Mesh in the Web Configurator. See your MPro Mesh-supported extender’s UG for how to
enable MPro Mesh.
Configurations on the Zyxel Device
