interface ge1 to the next-hop router GW_1. This route uses the IP address of the outgoing interface as
the matched packets’ source IP address.
18.3 IP Static Route
The Zyxel Device has no knowledge of the networks beyond the network that is directly connected to
the Zyxel Device. For instance, the Zyxel Device knows about network N2 in the following figure through
gateway R1. However, the Zyxel Device is unable to route a packet to network N3 because it doesn't
know that there is a route through the same gateway R1 (via gateway R2). The static routes are for you
to tell the Zyxel Device about the networks beyond the network connected to the Zyxel Device directly.
