The IEEE standard for a 10 megabit per second baseband
network on thin coaxial cable.
10BASE5
The IEEE standard for a 10 megabit per second baseband
network on thick coaxial cable.
10BASE-T
The IEEE standard for a 10 megabit per second baseband
network on twisted-pair cable.
Agent
A software routine that performs an action when a specified
event occurs.
ANSI
American National Standards Institute. A coordinating
organization that publishes electronics standards for use in
the United States.
AUI
Attachment Unit Interface Connector. Also called the DIX
(DEC
-Intel
-Xerox
) connector. This is a female 15-pin
D connector used with an external transceiver.
AUI cable
Also known as the transceiver cable. The AUI cable is used to
connect an external transceiver to a computing device.
AutoLink
Auto-installation and auto-configuration software for
NetWare DOS clients. It automatically configures the adapter
by selecting the correct interrupt level and I/O base address,
checking for the network connection, and detecting the
correct frame type.
