Inspecting oil level, axis 2 gearbox
Use this procedure to inspect the oil level in the axis 2 gearbox.
NoteAction
WARNING
Handling gearbox oil involves several safety
risks, see Gearbox lubricants (oil or grease)
on page 36.
1
DANGER
Turn off all:
• electric power supply
• hydraulic pressure supply
• air pressure supply
to the robot, before entering the robot
working area.
2
CAUTION
The gearbox can contain an excess of
pressure that can be hazardous. Open the
oil plug carefully in order to let out the ex-
cess pressure.
3
See the figure in:
• Location of axis 2 gearbox on
page 126
Open the oil plug, inspection (location de-
pends on how the robot is mounted).
Note
Always open the oil plug on top, depending
how the robot is mounted.
4
Measure the oil level at the oil plug hole.5
Required oil level:
• 42 mm ± 5 mm below the lower edge
of the oil plug hole (IRB 2600-20/1.65,
IRB 2600-12/1.65, IRB 2600-12/1.85,
IRB 2600ID-15/1.85, IRB 2600ID-
8/2.0).
28 mm ± 3 mm below the lower edge
of the oil plug hole (IRB 2600-20/1.65
type C, IRB 2600-12/1.65 type C).
How to fill oil is described in section
• Changing the oil, axis-2 gearbox
on page 166
