Because Z-Purge is a simple protection system, the safety of the analyzers relies on the provision of proper
purging and pressurizing, when used in hazardous locations. An initial purging with an 18.2 minute timed interval
for a CDA purge, or 36.4 minute timed interval for an N
2
purge, is required to ensure five volumetric exchanges of a
protective gas before applying electrical power to the analyzer.
WARNING!
It is the responsibility of the plant operator to maintain safe operations of the
analyzer. Proper operations of the analyzer must always be followed.
Electrical power to the analyzer must not be restored after the enclosure is
opened, until the enclosure has been purged for 18.2 minutes for CDA purge,
or 36.4 minutes for N
2
purge, at the specified flow rate.
Do not use analyzers in hazardous locations without special permission from the inspection authority having
jurisdiction. Fire safety, explosion hazards, and hazardous area zoning must be assessed accordingly.
Regular inspection and proper maintenance of the analyzer and its protective enclosure must be performed
based on the facility requirements and national regulations.
