3.1 Connectivity packages
A connectivity package is a software component that consists of executable code and
data which enable system tools to communicate with a protection relay. Connectivity
packages are used to create configuration structures in PCM600. The latest PCM600
and connectivity packages are backward compatible with older protection relay
versions.
A connectivity package includes all the data which is used to describe the protection
relay. For example, it contains a list of the existing parameters, data format used, units,
setting range, access rights and visibility of the parameters. In addition, it contains
code which allows the software packages that use the connectivity package to
properly communicate with the protection relay.
3.2 PCM600 and relay connectivity package version
• Protection and Control IED Manager PCM600 2.9 Hotfix 1 or later
• REX640 Connectivity Package Ver.1.0 or later

www.abb.com/relion or directly with Update Manager in PCM600.
3.2.1 Installing connectivity packages
• Install connectivity packages either by running the installer which can be
downloaded on the ABB Web site or by using Update Manager when a network
connection is available.
