Prepare and Fill the Cartridge continued
Step 5: Place the fi lling needle with its protective cap onto the cartridge tip. Make sure
that the connection is tight.
Step 6: Move the plunger rod back and forth two times in the cartridge to distribute
the lubricant.
Step 7: Pull the plunger rod back to fi ll the cartridge with air.
TIP: In some situations you may want to use partially fi lled cartridges. To partially fi ll a
cartridge, pull the plunger back to the desired volume.
Step 8: Remove the protective cap from the needle.
CAUTION: To prevent contamination, do not allow anything to touch the needle!
Step 9: Push the tip of the fi lling needle into the center of the insulin vial, puncturing the
rubber membrane.
Step 10: Push the plunger rod down so all the air from the cartridge enters the insulin vial.
