Application of Caps
Wear powder-free gloves while applying caps to the sample containers.
Caps should be placed on the samples before the samples are loaded into the
instrument. For best results, apply the caps while the samples are firmly
seated in a 96-well working rack (Agilent Catalog #410094). Apply direct
downward force to each cap, and then view the rack from the side to make
sure all the caps are seated evenly. Alternatively, caps can be applied using a
Storage Mat Applicator (Corning Catalog #3081). Just before loading the
samples into the thermal block, centrifuge the samples briefly to collect any
liquid that may be on the tube walls or cap.
